Hélène de Crecy

After studying modern literature, philosophy, painting and theatre, Hélène de Crécy received a diploma in Sexology and Public Health.  She also pursued studies in writing and in cinematography.  In 2001, she produced her first documentary, Desire for Love (Désirs d’amour), and her first short film, The Giraffe (La Girafe). In 2004, she wrote and directed the documentary Men’s Secrets (Secrets d’hommes).  In 2007, her first feature documentary, The Consultation (La Consultation), appeared in theaters.  It was selected, amongst others, for the festivals of La Rochelle and Locarno, and it obtained the Prix du public and Jury mention at the Oullins Festival. The Consultation was also shown on TV (Canal +, France 2 and Arte). 

In 2008, she shared her experience as a filmmaker with students in sociology at the University of Evry, where she accompanied them from their conception to the conclusion of their projects. In 2010, after filming Escort, a new 90 minutes documentary, she obtained the prestigious Villa Kujoyama prize, where she resided for 6 months and wrote and directed the film Genesis, entirely filmed in improvisation with Japanese actors.
